Letter from Iraq to Jan Bates

Published: June 18, 2007

Hello Jan,

How are you this beautiful day in California? I truly hope that you, family and friends are doing well an enjoying this time of the year. So you know the weather here has not changed and it gets close to 115F during the peak hours. We are by now accustomed, but it doesn’t help that much, ha-ha. Well I just wanted to let you know that we received today your packages (we had some issues with the trucks that deliver the mail and they were running behind for the past week or so). Let me just say that you made some grown man scream like little boys when we opened the box with the otter pops, they were thrilled and can wait until tomorrow to try them frozen. All the other items were just great too we loved the brownies, candy, fruit bars and other snacks that you send. Once again thank you for adopting us, we are so grateful of your kindness and love that you send with each and every package. Thank you to you all for “really supporting us” while we do our duty. Always very thankful of your support I say good night and God Bless.

Sincerely,
