C.A.R. Director Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain REALTOR® membership in good standing with SRCAR. “Good standing,” as defined in the SRCAR Bylaws, includes but is not limited to: fulfilling the obligations of REALTOR® members as outlined in Article VI, Section 1; remaining current on all financial and disciplinary obligations to SRCAR and the MLS; completing all new member requirements; and complying with NAR trademark rules.
  2. Abide by SRCAR policies and uphold the interests of its members while fulfilling your duties as a State Director.
  3. Commit to serving a one-year term.
  4. Serve as an ambassador for SRCAR and its members while performing your responsibilities as a State Director.
  5. Attend all three annually scheduled California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) business meetings.
  6. Actively participate on at least one state-level committee.
  7. Submit a written report within two weeks following each conference, and no later than the next SRCAR Board of Directors meeting.
  8. All C.A.R. Directors are encouraged to contribute a minimum of $148 to the REALTOR® Action Fund (RAF)® during your term as a State Director.
  9. Must have served in a volunteer capacity with SRCAR, including participation on a committee or task force, or as a member of the SRCAR Board of Directors.
  10. Agree to use a personal or corporate credit card, or other acceptable form of payment, to cover all upfront travel-related expenses, including airfare, parking, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, hotel incidentals, and meals.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Be a REALTOR® member in good standing.
  2. Must be a C.A.R. Director during the term as a N.A.R. Director
  3. Have served in a governance capacity at the local and state association level.
  4. Demonstrate leadership, engagement, and participation that support the missions of SRCAR, C.A.R., and NAR. This includes service in leadership or chair positions, consistent attendance, and active involvement in political advocacy efforts.
  5. Adhere to the policies, standards, and expectations of SRCAR while serving in the role of National Director.
  6. Agree to use a personal or corporate credit card, or other acceptable form of payment, to cover all upfront travel-related expenses, including airfare, parking, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, hotel incidentals, and meals.
  7. It is highly recommended that candidates contribute a minimum of $148 to the REALTOR Action Fund (RAF), indicating their commitment to organized real estate and political involvement.

National Association of REALTORS® Director Responsibilities and Expectations:

  1. Maintain active participation by attending N.A.R. Board of Directors meetings. Directors who miss National Director meetings may forfeit their position unless a written explanation is submitted and approved by the Board.
  2. Uphold all fiduciary responsibilities and comply with NAR’s conflict of interest and harassment policies. Violations may result in resignation or removal from the Board.
