AB 5 Passed Out of Senate as Ninth Circuit Depublishes Vasquez Decision

Assembly Bill 5 (Gonzalez) has passed out of the Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee, bringing those in the employment industry and employees one step closer to clarity regarding independent contractor status. AB 5 is in response to Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. Superior Court, wherein the Court created a new “ABC” test as a standard for determining independent contractor status. Pursuant to this test, “a worker is properly considered an independent contractor, to whom a wage order does not apply, only if the hiring entity establishes:

Dear Customer, We are excited to announce a new way for Supra eKEY users to authorize their eKEY app. This new feature makes it easy to obtain an authorization code when an eKEY user gets a new phone or needs to re-install their eKEY app. To obtain an authorization code from the eKEY app:

Launch the eKEY app
Select Activate eKEY App and the screen below is displayed
Enter email address or phone number
Enter 4-digit Supra ekey numeric code
Click Submit

Recently, the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R) released its list of proposed new and revised forms scheduled for release in June 2019. This list includes three new forms and thirteen revised forms. This Courtside Newsletter will discuss what real estate practitioners should be aware of in using the forms for future transactions.
